Satay sauce recipe

Keeping a decent satay recipe on hand is a good idea, made with ingredients from your pantry.

This is a great way to spice up your rotisserie, drizzle it over salads, or use it as a dip.

It also works perfectly with satay Chicken Skewers. This is a family favorite. I prefer to buy ready-made Smooth peanut butter. You can also whizz your peanuts if you wish. You could also use chunky peanut butter.

You can also find out more about the A-Team here. Traditional Indonesian Satay Where satay originated, it would use roasted peanuts. Hand-ground grains are those that have been ground. As it nears boiling point, the mixture will thicken. Before boiling the mixture, turn off the heat and add fresh lime juice. It can be served warm or chilled. You can do it either warm or cold.

Can I get ahead?

Yes! Yes! If you’d like to serve the sauce warm, place it in a saucepan and heat while stirring.

What Kind Of Peanut Butter?

It doesn’t matter if the peanuts are crunchy or smooth. You can also whizz your dry-roasted nuts in a food processor to a chunky or greasy texture.

You don’t want to feel the heat?

That is fine if you don’t want to use the chili flakes. It’s up to you whether or not you like it spicy.

Ingredients

  • ▢ Three heaped tablespoons of smooth peanut butter
  • ▢ 1 tbsp dark soy sauce – (use tamari for gluten-free)
  • ▢ Red pepper flakes and 1/2 tsp of chili flakes
  • ▢ 1 tbsp fish sauce – (substitute with vegetarian fish sauce if you prefer vegetarian food)
  • ▢ 7 oz. (200ml.) Coconut milk from a can
  • ▢ 1 tbsp of light brown sugar
  • ▢ Half a teaspoon of ground coriander
  • ▢ Juice from 1 lime (about two tablespoons)

Toppings:

  • ▢ 1/2 tsp sesame seeds
  • ▢ 1 tbsp finely chopped roasted peanuts
  • ▢ The flakes of chili are also known as pinch chili.
  • ▢ 1 tbsp fresh coriander – cilantro leaves

Instructions

  • Put all the ingredients for the satay, EXCEPT the lime juice, into a small saucepan.
  • Stir with a wooden spatula over med-low heat. As the sauce gets closer to boiling, it will thicken. Do not let the sauce boil. Instead, turn the heat down as it approaches boiling and stir until the sauce thickens. Then, turn off the stove and add the lime juice.
  • Serve the sauce in a dish with sesame, chopped peanuts, chili flakes, and fresh coriander.
