It’s essential to use quality containers for meal preparation to ensure your food stays as fresh as possible. Over the years, I have tried many different glass meal prep containers. I have narrowed down my choices to five high-quality containers.
The Best Size Container for Meals
These Snapware 2-cup glass storage containers are a great option if you’re looking for an inexpensive glass container. I have nearly 40! These are great for cooking and portioning out recipes. I have frozen, baked, microwaved, and put them in the dishwasher hundreds of times and have yet to have one break.
Best Sectioned Container
These Prep-Naturals 3-compartment glass storage containers will help you keep your fruits and vegetables separate from ingredients that need to be kept dry, like chips, crackers, etc.
These containers are great, but we wish the lids had been as well-made as Snapware’s glass containers. We’ve had them for almost three years and used them in the dishwasher hundreds of times. They still work.
Best Larger Meal Prep Container
Using a larger container to store more significant food portions, such as cooked chicken or chopped vegetables, would be best. These Snapware 6-cup glass storage containers are highly recommended!
The Best Budget-Friendly Option
It’s hard not to be impressed by the pint-sized mason jar’s affordability and functionality. They are great for storing vegetables, sauces, portions of soup, parfaits, and smoothies. Wide-mouth jars are easier to use and eat from and get food in and out.
Best Variety
Update July 2020– I’m a big fan of IKEA glass meal preparation containers, even though I didn’t mention them in the video. These containers come in many sizes (look at the 3L ones above) and are durable, affordable, and of good quality.
You can also choose from wood or plastic lids. I have owned several sets of these for over two years and am very happy with their performance through baking, freezing, thawing, and washing.
