CRANBERRY CREAM DIP CHEESE

It is rapidly becoming party season. Halloween parties are followed by Thanksgiving and Friendsgiving parties, Christmas parties, and New Year’s Eve parties. It’s boom-boom,boom-boom! So I thought I would share some party food ammunition with you. This Cranberry Cream Cheese Dip, a no-brainer holiday appetizer, is easily accessible. It will be eaten at any party you attend.

It’s so easy. It’s so easy. It’s as easy as cream cheese, homemade Cranberry Sauce (cranberries and sugar, water, salt) and green onions. I beg you not to skip the green onions. The dip is complete with the savoury onion flavour!

This simple dish is irresistible because it has the perfect combination of sweet, salty, salty, and savoury. This Cranberry Cream Cheese dip is sweet and savoury, so it goes well with sweet apple slices and salty crackers.   • Add jalapeno (pictured below) to make it a mix between pepper jelly or cranberry sauce. Add jalapeno (pictured below).
  • You can make a classic Cranberry Sauce with or without orange. Add crushed pecans and walnuts to the top.
  • Use a different cheese. This dip can be made with cream cheese, but you also can use chevre (goat) cheese or baked brie.

INGREDIENTS

  • 6 oz. fresh cranberries ($1.25)
  • 1/4 cup sugar ($0.08)
  • 1/2 cup water (0.00)
  • 1 jalapeno (optional) ($0.15)
  • 1/8 tsp salt ($0.02)
  • 8 oz. cream cheese ($0.79)
  • 3 sliced green onions ($0.33)
  • 1 box crackers (for sharing) (2.95
  • 1 apple (for consumption) ($0.33)

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Rinse the cranberries and then add them to the small sauce pot with sugar, water, salt, and water.
  • If you are using a jalapeno for garnish, cut the stem in half lengthwise. Next, scrape the seeds out (or leave them in if it is extra spicy). Finally, dice the pepper. The diced pepper should be added to the sauce pot.
  • Mix the ingredients in the pot and cover it with a lid. Place the pot on medium heat. Let the pot heat up to boiling. After it has boiled, give it another stir and then reduce the heat to medium-low. Let it simmer for 5 minutes without covering.
  • After 5 minutes of simmering, the cranberries will have burst open and formed a thick sauce. The heat should be turned off. Once the sauce has cooled, transfer it to the fridge.
  • The cream cheese should be placed on a small plate or shallow bowl. To create an indentation on the middle of the cream cheese block, use the back of a spoon.
  • Spread the cool cranberry sauce on top of the cream cheese. Top with the sliced green onions. Serve with apple slices and crackers.
